Delhi Public World School celebrates EARTH DAY

‘We have received these treasures

As a trust from a beneficent creator

And it is our duty to handle them on

Unimpaired to those who will succeed us.’

A Green School that it is, DPS World has always stood by this maxim. We leave no stone unturned to instill in our students the love and respect for this planet that it so deserves.

They are the future and the promise of a beautiful tomorrow and must work towards healing the injuries caused by their older generations. Why should they pay for the sins of their fathers and grandfathers?

The Earth Day was just a way to strengthen their commitment to save the Mother Earth. It was celebrated with a lot zeal and industry.

A Special Assembly was conducted on this occasion. Sneyhil Aggarwal (Grade VI) recited a very thought provoking poem which left everyone pondering over the present state of affairs. Man’s hunger for development to prove his supremacy has caused harms beyond repair. Vaibhav Pal (Grade VII) shared some facts about how we are damaging this beautiful creation. Everyone present was rendered speechless as the School choir sang melodious and enchanting songs, as a tribute to Mother Earth.

Students of Grades III to VII presented a short play ‘An Earth Day Carol’, inspired by Charles Dickens’ The Christmas Carol. It was a very apt presentation, considering the present situation. It sent across the message that looking after the Earth is everyone’s responsibility if we want a healthy life for our future generations. There was a mesmerizing dance performance by the students of Grades V to VIII.

The Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee, in her address, held that every day should be an Earth Day. The Earth Day is not just about planting trees but also about saving the resources. She illuminated the young minds about their role in conserving and preserving this unique planet.

All the students and the Teachers signed a petition, vowing to contribute their bit to the noble cause. It is said that the trees are the Earth’s lungs. Students planted trees in the School campus as a mark of respect for their Mother Earth
