“Competitive sports are played mainly on a five-and-a-half inch court, the space between your ears.”
Bright, clear and sunny skies ushered in the much-awaited event of Delhi World Public School, Zirakpur – the 4th Annual Sports Day, a day filled with fervor and excitement, amidst thrills, shrills and cheers.
The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee, the Chairman Mr. Kewal Garg, and the Director, Mrs. Riya Garg who released bright and colourful balloons and the Sports Meet was declared open by the Principal. The sports oath was administered to all the House Prefects by the Vice Principal, Mrs. Maninder Pama.
A melodious rendition of “Rise Up..”, a very inspirational song had the spirits soaring and set the ball rolling for the day. An enthralling Jasmine Dance lent a very lively air. The tracks came alive with our budding sprinters taking big leaps and setting new records. It was intriguing to see our young, high-spirited athletes full of such verve and vigour. While drills like ‘Horn Pipe Dance’, and ‘Zumba’ added melody and radiance to the air, giving fitness goals to everyone present, events like the ‘Tug-o-War’, Taekwondo and Gymnastics were a display of the students’ agility, coordination, endurance and flexibility. There were races and Tug-O-War between the Teachers and the parents, taking them back to their good old school days.
The winners were awarded medals by Principal Ma’am, Mr. Kewal Garg and Mrs. Riya Garg. The Trophy for the best Marching Contingent was bagged by Kaveri House.
The eventful day concluded with a euphonic rendition of the National Anthem by the School Choir.
