DPS World School believes that TRUE EDUCATION is the one which prepares the young minds – intellectually, socially, physically and technologically, for the times to come. And this goal can be achieved only when the teachers are kept abreast with the latest techniques and methodology of teaching.
With this aim in mind, a workshop for the teachers on the implementation of Theatre in Education was organized on Saturday. It was conducted by Mr. Anoop Sharma, an eminent name in the world of Theatre.
He spoke at length about how Theatre can transform the life of an individual. He started with an introduction to theatre and what it is all about. He discussed the various fineries associated with Theatre like movement of the body, voice modulation, gestures and eye-contact. He emphasized on the fact that one must try to get away with one’s fears and inhibitions for it is only when you shed off all your hesitation that a spontaneous and relaxed learning environment is created. Then the Theatre activities can be conducted to pursue the larger objective i.e learning.
He demonstrated all these by conducting various body-movement exercises with all the teachers where they were given different situations to enact. This helped them to come out of their shells and acquire the basic skills of Theatre which they would impart to their young learners.
The Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee thanked Mr. Sharma for sharing the intricacies associated with Theatre and enlightening the teachers. She was quite hopeful that Theatre in Education would have far reaching and lasting impact on the lives of those in their care.
It was an attention-grabbing workshop for everyone where they learnt without feeling worn out and burdened. They were very confident and optimistic about implementing whatever they had learnt, in their classrooms.
The Theatre will be continued for the students in the coming month.
