Oprah Winfrey had once said, “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate”. And what better way to celebrate than to acknowledge and honour the love, wisdom and the experiences of our Grandparents.
18th November 2017 witnessed the grand celebration of 2nd Annual Day at Delhi Public World School. It was the time to pay our tribute to all the Grandparents, the time to express our love and gratitude to them. The theme of the programme was EK BOOND PYAR. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Sandeep Hans, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Mohali.
The grandparents of all the students were invited to witness the resplendent celebrations. It was heartwarming for them to see such an exquisite expression of love and honour. The sequence of events, woven into an intricate story, took them into a flashback and offered an opportunity to relive their childhood and youth. The ‘FUN AT THE FARM’ by the little angels of The Roseland brought back reminiscences of their carefree and fun-filled early lives whereas the songs of the yesteryears filled their hearts and minds with rhythm. It was as if the angels themselves had descended upon the earth, at DPWS to bless the blending of two generations.
The ‘TWIRL TOGETHER’ by Grades I and II added grace and romance to the air. Dances like Laavni and Gidda brought back those tender memories of homecoming, creating a feeling of belonging. The Mimes ‘BAATON BAATON MEIN…’ and ‘MARCHING ON…’ by the senior boys brought them back into painful present, making them wonder if this was the future and the values they had intended to leave for their grandchildren – a thought to ponder. A Special song by the students ‘LOVE YOU GRANDPA…………GRANDMA…….’ touched everyone to the core and broke all barriers of emotions.
There was a special dance by the mothers of our students who had prepared it under the able guidance of our Dance Teacher, Mr. Ankur Bajaj. It was a special tribute to their parents. The young mothers set the stage rollicking with their lively, graceful moves. It left everyone awestruck to see what a storehouse of talent these stunning ladies are.
The evening also pioneered the distribution of Annual Prizes and Awards in School. The academic toppers for the session 2016-17 were felicitated. In addition, the prizes for the Annual Art and Craft Exhibition were also distributed.
The Principal Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee, in her Annual Report, proudly apprised every one of the achievements of our students in various fields of activity in Inter and Intra School events. She gave a new slogan “If you can dream it, you can do it”.
It was an evening of honours and expressions which is sure to leave its imprints in the sands of time.
