Inter-House ‘Nukkad Natak’ Competition

Street Theatre or the Nukkad Natak, as it is locally known, is perhaps India’s most ancient form of entertainment. Since times immemorial, we’ve had motley crowds of people gathered around street performers at public places like in malls, market areas and road sides. Often these street plays are based on issues concerning the society.

With an aim to acquaint our young minds with this ancient but gripping art, an Inter-House Nukkad Natak Competition was organized for Grades III to V. All the plays revolved around social issues like child labour, road safety, superstitions and water conservation.

It was a feast to the eyes to see these young artists perform so well with such vigour. Their crisp dialogues and gestures held everyone spellbound. The judges were so mesmerized with the performance of all the participants that they had a challenging time picking out the winners.

But the House that managed to outdo the rest was Kaveri followed by Yamuna, Brahmaputra and Narmada respectively.
