Learning at DPS World goes beyond the routine Classroom exercises. We always try to use innovative means to educate our students in the real sense in an endeavour to help them grow up as ‘complete’ human beings.
Keeping this in mind, a Trek to Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary was organized so that Mother Nature could fill the urns of the young minds with its hidden treasures.
This wildlife sanctuary is located in the serenity and tranquility of the foothills of the Shivalik ranges.
Before they set off, the students were given some valuable tips on the safety measures and precautions to be adopted while trekking. During the course of the trek they learnt about the diverse flora and fauna of the region. The guide also briefed them about various measures taken to stop soil erosion and how the dam in the area helps to save water. They were also apprised of the rising level of silt in the lake and the measures taken to check excessive siltation.
The most exciting part of the trek for the students was the footprints of various animals which they saw. They learnt to identify animals by looking at their pug marks. They were also shown solar panels, rain gauge etc. and were briefed about their working.
All the students were given refreshments in the end. Though the day tested their stamina and endurance yet they returned with an exuberance and excitement of a fun-filled day.
