Capacity-building Workshop for Teachers

The role and responsibilities of a teacher have gone beyond the traditional ‘teaching within the confines of the classroom’. The teacher, today, is a mentor, a guide, a facilitator who inspires his / her students to think and reason beyond the textbooks. This requires teachers to keep themselves abreast of the techniques and methodology of imparting education.

Keeping this belief in mind, DPS World, Zirakpur organized a Capacity-building Workshop for its teachers. It was conducted by Mrs. Rachna Narang from ‘Next Education’.

Mrs. Narang began on a very interactive note by asking the teachers about the role played by them in a student’s life. She, then, went on to discuss how these roles can be played effectively and to the learners’ and also to the community’s satisfaction. She also shared tips on how to develop a meaningful and an effective Lesson-plan so that it caters to the needs of the variety of learners.

During the course of the workshop, there were a few ice-breaking sessions that involved games / activities for the Teachers which, apart from giving valuable lessons, also lent an air of buoyancy to the atmosphere.

The day ended with an open session wherein the Teachers’ queries were answered and constructive feedback was taken from them. The workshop did prove to be very useful as everyone carried home substantial tips on how to conduct their role skillfully / productively.

At the end of the session, the Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee thanked her for her valuable inputs and spoke about how sensitive teachers can be ‘life-changers’ for students.
