Delhi Public World School celebrates Yoga Day

It is said that everything you need lies within yourself. All source of power, all source of strength, all source of love, all source of happiness and all source of peace lies within yourself. And to discover all this, our mind and body need to be relaxed and balanced. Yoga is the only way by which this relaxation and balance can be achieved.

The International community realized this importance of Yoga in the stressful and troubled lives of people today. Thus, 21st June was declared as International Yoga Day. It is observed not just in India but across the globe.

A small celebration took place in the School in honour of this day. An eminent yogi, Shri Buddh Dev Ji graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The programme started with a chanting of shloks by the students. Some students presented the Vandana as an offering to the God. Thereafter, students displayed some Yog Asanas to the soulful and enchanting tunes. Mr Sarvesh Pandey, our Sports Teacher, illuminated everyone about the importance of Yoga in our lives. Mrs Rajni Thakur shared her views on how yoga can help us maintain a healthy and disease-free lifestyle. There was a mesmerizing and rejuvenating hoola- hoop performance by the students of Grades II to VI.

The Chief Guest, Shri Buddh Devji added to the information shared by Maam Thakur and Sir Pandey by saying that Yoga is not just about a healthy lifestyle. It is also a means to train one’s mind and body to be disciplined. He held that it is only through discipline that a balance can be struck between the mind and the body and free them from stress and anxiety.

The day also witnessed honouring the little champs of the School who participated in the Inter-school Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament held on 19th and 20th May ’17 at the Sports Complex in Sector 7, Chandigarh. These budding Gymnasts won accolades for their majestic performance and were awarded Silver and Bronze medals. The Medals were awarded to them by our Chief Guest. The winners were – Pranjal Rana – (Grade VII) Silver Medal and Naina Rana (Grade VI), Vaibhav Pal (Grade VII), Chirag Joshi (Grade VII), Anmol Sachdeva (Grade VII) and Shubham Pal (Grade II) a Bronze Medal each.

The Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee, in her address congratulated everyone and said that it was a proud moment for the School. She thanked Yogi Buddh Devji for having spared some time to make his presence possible on this special day.
