DPS World celebrates Annual Sports Day

Champions aren’t made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a desire, a dream, a vision.

Games and sports have become an integral element of present day education. They teach them the qualities of discipline, sportsmanship, team spirit and leadership. They also enhance the physical and mental development of children.

DPS World celebrated the First Annual Sports Day on 21st Dec ’16 amidst a lot of fun and frolic.

The eventful day began with an Aero-Modelling Show by a team of Air N.C.C. The students were shown maneuvers of different aircraft models of India. It was a mesmerizing and an eye-catching performance, with lots of models flying in the air and showering confetti.

The Sports programme began with the release of balloons and white pigeons by the Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee. This was followed by the Oath-taking ceremony. Students of Grades I to VII performed YOGA asanas to the tuneful chants of shloks. Thereafter, there were some fun races for Grades Pre-nursery, Nursery and Prep. These little shining stars also presented a Pom-pom Callisthenic drill, enchanting everyone with their rhythmical movements. There were some more races for the students of Grades I to VII, displaying their vigour and athletic talents.

The teachers also got an opportunity to prove their physical fitness by participating in races. They proved that age is no bar for running and winning on the tracks. There was also a Mixed Relay for Students and Teachers.

The most exciting part of this happening day was the TUG-O-WAR. An Inter-House event that it was, it gave a chance to the Students to display their House-spirits. The results were:

Kaveri House – 1st, Yamuna House – 2nd and Brahmaputra House – 3rd

In the end, the winners were awarded medals and certificates. Mrs. Nagranee in her address to the students laid emphasis on the need to participate. She said that it is not important to win. It is participation that makes all the difference. She congratulated her team of teachers and Admin Staff for a successful afternoon.
