It’s Sports Time

Sports are about those incredible moments where sheer human will and desire overcomes the odds. These are the moments we remember.

Delhi World Public School, Zirakpur witnessed their 4th Annual Sports Day for The Roseland and Grades I to III under bright, clear and sunny skies and a lot of thrills, shrills and cheers.

The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee followed by a melodious rendition of the School Anthem by the choir. Thereafter, the Sports Meet was declared open by the Principal.

A splendid Yoga Display set the tone for day. A spectacular sight it was to see the youngest students of the School in the Fitness Circuit Display, demonstrating amazing agility, coordination and keenness. The tracks seemed to have come alive as little steps raced ahead, taking big leaps and creating records in various fun races. While races like ‘Water the Plants’, ‘Sowing the Seeds’ and ‘Go Green’ exhibited their sensitivity towards the environment, those like ‘Sack Race’, ‘Frog Crosses the Pond’, ‘Lemon and Spoon Race’, ‘Balloon Pop’, ‘Peg the Clothes on the String’ and ‘Penguin Race’ had everyone in splits. It was intriguing to see our budding athletes full of such verve and vigour. Even the parents exhibited a lot of zeal as they participated in Relay Race and got the spectators cheering. Drills like ‘Itni Si Khushi’, ‘Boom Boom Boom’, ‘Ram Sam Song’, Half Hoop Drill and the Sari Dance had students gyrating to rhythmic beats, displaying their coordination skills and adding vigour and radiance to the air. . It was a sight to behold, indeed. The Taekwondo Display showcased the students’ agility, coordination, endurance and flexibility whereas the Tug-O-War between the Mothers and the Teachers was an exciting show of strength and team-work. The show-stopper was an extremely melodious, rhythmic and vigorous Bhangra by Grades III-A and B.

The winners were awarded medals by the Principal and the Director, Mrs. Riya Garg. They congratulated everyone present for their efforts. The enchanting afternoon concluded with a rendition of the National Anthem.
