Janamashtami Celebrations

India is a land of colourful festivals and celebrations. Being the citizens of this great country, it becomes our responsibility to make our younger generations aware of the diverse culture that forms the spirit of India.

To mark the auspicious occasion of the birth of the one who enlightened the world on the theory of Karma – none other than Lord Krishna, grand celebrations were held at DPS World, Zirakpur. Mothers of the students of  Primary Classes were cordially invited to participate in the programme.

The tiny tots of the School came dressed up, in rich and vibrant hues of yellow, as ‘Kanhas’ and  Radhas. They danced to the tunes of ‘Tu Kisna hai….’. there was a ‘Matki-decoration’ Competition for the mothers in which they participated with zeal, exhibiting their best aesthetic talents. This was followed by all the gorgeous mothers walking down the ramp with their adorable Kanhas and Radhas. Sir Kohli, our Music Teacher, held everyone spellbound with his song ‘Yashomati maiyya se bole Nandlala..’ played on the flute. The toddlers gave a dance performance on the song ‘Govinda Gopal…..Govinda Gopal’.

The show-stopper was the programme ‘Dahi Handi’ wherein one of the ‘Govindas’ very impishly  broke the ‘Handi’ containing ‘Dahi’ (or ‘Maakhan’ as the legend says).

The Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee conveyed her Janmashtami wishes and encouraged everyone to learn and follow the teachings of Lord Krishna.

The day ended with a High Tea for the parents.
