The Earth Day at DPWS

“A society is defined not only by what it creates, but by what it refuses to destroy.”

And we have already almost destroyed our very own home – the Earth. It’s time we realized the effect of our endless desires on this beautiful and precious home.

We, at DPWS, endeavoured to contribute our bit towards this eternal cause. The Special Assembly on The Earth Day was a step towards this ideal.

A melodious song dedicated to the Earth resonated in the air as also the scintillating dance performance by the students of Grade IX enthralled everyone present.

The day also witnessed a display of different birds by Mrs. Sarabjeet Kaur, the Joint Secretary Chandigarh Bird Club, Mrs. Rima Dhillon, Secretary and Mr. Amandeep Singh Channa, a young member of the club and also the editor of the Club E-journal ‘Whispering Wings’. With the help of a presentation, they apprised the gathering of the rare and endangered bird, the sparrow’ and its colourful species. Mrs. Sarabjeet also spoke about how young children can contribute towards preserving these beautiful and unique birds.

The Principal, Mrs Jyoti Nagranee was presented a lush green plant as a token. The team from the Bird Club was presented with a copy of ‘The Voice Within’, a collection of short stories by the Founder Teachers as a memento.

“A beautiful world starts with you. Take care of it this Earth Day and always.”
