Elocution is the foundation of effective communication skills. Elocution is the art of clear and concise manner of speaking, with clarity of meaning and thought. Elocution originates from the word ‘eloquence’ – fluent, elegant or persuasive speaking. It is the knowledge of expressing strong emotions in striking and appropriate language and with the power of persuasion.

The students of DPS World participated in the first Inter House Elocution contest today. Category I was for Grades 4 and 5 and Category II for Grades 6 and 7. The aim of this event is to increase the vocabulary and add to the confidence in the students. Such competitions give students a good opportunity to overcome the biggest fear i.e. stage fear. The topics for each category were ‘Childhood’ and ‘Nature’.

The prize winners were as follows –

Group I –   1^st Paras Kholi – grade IV

2^nd Vibhav Aditya – grade V

Group II – 1^st Souhard Aditya – grade VII

2^nd Rishamdeep Aulakh – VII

Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee applauded the efforts of the House Mistresses and Activity In-charge and made suggestions to enhance the speaking skills of students.
